A short video to give you some of our key messages:
From the Principal
Dear Families
Happy Father’s Day to all of our wonderful Dads and all who play a fathering role in the lives of our children. I hope you felt the love and appreciation for all you do in this important role.
I am excited to be back at work and am very grateful for the wonderful holiday I just enjoyed. I am especially grateful to Kellie Richardson for the wise and confident way she led the school in my absence and for the amazing team who supported her through it.
"When we seek for connection, we restore the world to wholeness. Our seemingly separate lives become meaningful as we discover how truly necessary we are to each other."
~ Margaret J. Wheatley
The opportunity to travel and spend quality time with our overseas family was a precious gift. Staying connected with our loved ones and also with the wider community actually plays an important role in maintaining good mental health.
This week is National Child Protection Week with this year’s theme focusing on children growing up safe and supported - Children and young people thrive when they grow up safe, connected and supported in their family, community and culture.
Connection helps children to feel loved and safe but it also helps them to develop a positive sense of identity and culture. Being connected to a story gives us security and purpose and is something we can carry with us as a guide and inspiration throughout our lives.
I am a massive fan of Pub Choir which was created as a passion project by Astrid Jorgensen. It involves a whole bunch of random people turning up for a night out to learn a song and record it together. During Covid it became a global connection as Astrid created the Couch Choir. There is something special about music that can unify us and make us work together and the sound of voices united in song can be truly awesome.
Astrid says that a Choir is the sound of everyone agreeing. She goes on to say that singing exists even when we’re not in the room together we can always work to create something beautiful even when we’re not together – we can still be connected by the shared song.
This is the connection our children need. A story and a song that they can carry with them for joy, inspiration and consolation wherever they go – their family story, their school story, their faith story, their cultural story.
This Friday I invite you to help us celebrate our school story which is also a story of faith. Please join us for our Feast Day celebrations which begin with mass at 9am and finishes with our Trivia night.
God bless you and Live Jesus in Your Hearts Forever!

2022 School Goals
From Our APRE
Welcome to Week 9!! I am not really sure how we got here so quickly. I was reflecting on the term over the weekend, wondering where it had gone. When you take into account everything we have achieved it is easy to see why we have been so busy.
This week we celebrate our School Feast Day – The Feast of the Holy Name of Mary. A day when we remember the wonderful role model Mary is for us at Star of the Sea. Part of our Mission is to love God as Mary did.
This week as we celebrate the feast of the Holy Name of Mary, help us to be kind and caring like Mary.
Have a wonderful week.

Star of the Sea Parish Feast Day Sunday 11th September
In Our Prayers
Let us pray...
• We pray for our school and Parish as we celebrate our Feast Day on the Feast of the Holy Name of Mary: May we celebrate the shared story we have with Jesus at its centre.
• We pray for our indigenous brothers and sisters: May we always celebrate their rich history, culture and achievements and may we work together to bring about reconciliation and respect.
• We pray for all families: May they always value the beauty of their shared story.
• We pray for all in our world and in our community who suffer in any way because of illness, disaster, war or injustice: May they always know they are not alone.

Spirit of Star of the Sea Award - Nominations called for now.
The Spirit of Star of the Sea Award was first presented in 2014 to a past student, Mitchell Luders, who inspired our school community and taught us all important lessons about the way we should live. In doing so he exemplified the motto of letting your light shine in many simple ways throughout his short life.
This award is presented as part of our School Feast Day celebrations in years when a member of the school community has demonstrated a significant contribution to building up the spirit of Star of the Sea. They will have demonstrated endurance and compassion in their efforts and worked as a unifying force within the school, encouraging and inspiring others and truly letting their light shine.
The recipient can be a parent, staff member, student or member of the wider community and your recommendations for possible recipients is now invited. We encourage you to click on the link below to share with us your recommendation for this year's Spirit of Star of the Sea Award recipient.
