St Joseph's Cathedral Appeal
From the Acting Principal
If there is one thing the last 6 weeks has taught me it is the importance of Resilience.
The old cliché of ‘life is full of ups and downs’ is not far from true that is for sure.
Resilience allows us to sit with the challenges and overcome the adversity. It was my understanding, not all that long ago, that resilience was simply the ability to bounce back when something goes wrong – I now know it is far more than that.
Sometimes there is a false belief that if you are resilient you will never be sad, angry, frustrated or upset. This, we know, is impossible. It is important for us to recognise our feelings, sit with them and work through what is next.
I follow The Resilience Project and listen to a Podcast called ‘The Imperfects’. Recently they covered the topic of resilience and it helped me gain a deeper understanding. Maria Ruberto, director and founder of Salutegenics Psychology refers to resilience as ‘advancing despite adversity’. She explains that there are six domains of resilience.
Somehow our faith draws us to a strong sense of resilience.
So do not fear; I will provide for you and your little ones.” Thus he reassured them and comforted them. Genesis 50:21
Term Four is always a crazy, busy term – but so much fun.
Our aim for Term Four is to remember to be grateful and have an attitude of gratitude, while practising the virtue of Determination.
Traditionally October is the month of The Rosary. The Rosary is a prayer to remind us that Jesus loved us so much that he died on the cross for us.
The rosary tells the story of Jesus’ life in four parts:
- The Joyful Mysteries
- The Sorrowful Mysteries
- The Glorious Mysteries
- The Luminous Mysteries
Catholics have been given a very special gift in the rosary. Each time we pray the rosary we should focus on Jesus’ life as well as a special person or intention that we want to pray for.
God bless,

We farewell our Story Dogs Volunteer Dave and his companion Meeka this term. During Dave and Meeka’s time with us they have helped many children improve their reading skills.
Dave and Meeka have for many years brought a positive energy to our school from the moment they arrive, every person who would pass them would stop to pat Meeka and chat with Dave. They would then walk on with a smile and a spring in their step.
We thank Dave for the time he has committed to our school.
Have a great week everyone.

In Our Prayers
Let us pray...
• We pray that we will work together to build places of belonging: May we create a community for all to share their gifts and to know that each of us is loved.
• We pray for all those who have died: May God grant them the peace and joy and hope of the resurrection.
• We pray for those members of our school community who are battling sickness and suffering in their life: May they find healing and comfort.
• We pray for all who live with war and suffering, that we will all be moved by the Holy Spirit to look for opportunities to bring justice, compassion and peace.

Have you downloaded our new App yet?
We already have way over half our parent community who've downloaded our new mobile App.
The App, Parent Orbit, which is connected to Parent Lounge, will improve our communication with each other as it offers a quick and easy way to receive notifications, add Student Absences, view and pay School Fees, accept or decline excursions via the Events and Activities, check the school calendar, update details and permissions and much more.
Some of you may already be using the Parent Orbit App for Chanel College and you will simply add Star of the Sea as another school you can access.
The App uses your Parent Lounge log in to access and will be a great way to access Parent Lounge features as you will not have to log in every time.
To download the App to your mobile device you can click on the link https://parentorbit.page.link/sosg or visit your APP store.
Most of our Term Dates for the rest of the year are already installed on the App so it really is a good resource for you.
